Balancing Act (30 Days of Truth Challenge--Day 5)

Day 5 asks What is something in life that keeps you balanced?

Ha!  Balance?  I'm not sure I know the meaning of that word.

But...when things get a little crazy in my life and I'm feelings out of sorts or out of control, there are some things that I rely on to make things feel a wee bit saner.

1.  My Husband (He's very good at letting me vent and taking whatever crap I'm dishing out!)
2.  A Hot Bath (I turn off the lights, play some music and escape from the world for a while)
3.  Coffee (Usually a nice way to unwind.  A conversation over coffee is always nice.)
4.  A Good Book (Or a terrible one...letting my mind wander in another world can make this world seem right again)
5.  Quality Time at My Makeup Desk (When I feel beautiful...everything else just feels better)

What are some things that you do to keep life in balance?

Makeup Monster (30 Days of Truth--Day 4)

(Day 4 asks What is part of your daily routine that you enjoy?)

I am nuts for makeup.

A little over three years ago, I mentioned to my husband that I was jealous of girls who had makeup skills.  I told him that someday I'd like to learn how to apply makeup--eyeshadow in particular--without looking like a toddler playing with her mother's makeup.  Back then, I wore just enough makeup to make me look human.  Anything beyond the most basic eyeliner, mascara and foundation was completely foreign to me.

My husband suggested checking the internet for advice and instruction.  That idea hadn't ever occurred to me.  After just a few clicks, I found myself bombarded with information.

And a monster was born.

With a lot of practice...and I do mean A LOT...I became pretty darn good at it.  There is always room for growth and improvement but, overall, I'm quite pleased with what I have learned to do during  what has become my obsession hobby.

Just about everyday....regardless of what my plans are...I usually do some sort of makeup.  Even if my plans are just running to the grocery store or going to work.

This is my ME time.  An hour (depending on what I have to do that day) that is totally dedicated to what I want to do.

Some people relax with a glass of wine and a good book.

I grab a soda or a coffee, crank the tunes, and paint my face.

'Cause I'm a Rebel Like That (30 Days of Truth Challenge Days 2 & 3)

I'm a day behind so I'm playing catch up.

The question for day two is:  What is something that you regret not doing last year?  I'm honestly not sure about this one.  For the most part, I live according to a 'Back to the Future'-esque philosophy.  In other words, if I could go back and change anything that I've already done....then I wouldn't be where I am right now.  I try to live life without too many regrets.  If we are always worrying about what we did or didn't do in certain situations, then we are going to miss out on a lot of great things that are right in front of us.  Right now.

Day three wants to know:  What is something with which you struggle?

Ha!  Just one thing??  I could write an entire book on that!

Procrastination is one of the many things that I struggle with.  I am really bad when it comes to getting things done.  Especially if what I need to do involves making phone calls!  But I generally procrastinate over just about everything.  If it can be put off for another day...then I will put it off.  I've tried making lists and schedules for myself but I also seem to come up with a way to justify not doing whatever goals I set for myself.

Which is why I'm combining two posts into one.

You can call it procrastinating.

Today, I will call it being a rebel.
