I kill plants... (GBE#7--exactly 100 word challenge)

No green thumb for me.

Probably due to my whole anti-nature outlook.

Bear made me a windowbox for Mother’s Day—filled with pink petunias.  Everyday, he urged me to care for them…pleaded with me not to ruin all his hard work.

I wanted to make him happy.

I meant to treat them well--It didn’t happen.

Bear confiscated my petunias.

He transplanted some into an old tool box—left some in my windowbox.
He’s even planted an old potato—little sprouts emerging.

My balcony is bursting with life.
I’m incredibly jealous.

But happy at the same time.

  9. That's why I stopped trying to have plants. Had no clue Bear was going to give me flowers for Mother's Day...good thing he took over :)

  13. @Theresa It just seemed longer because I spaced it out LOL

@Langley I think I'll leave the plants to Bear :)

@Jenn Thanks! My only success has been with tomatoes, green peppers, jalapenos, and herbs. I tried lettuce but yep, killed that too :)

  15. I kill plants too lol but I think I'll be better this summer since I want to garden with my kid this year. Probably just herbs and maybe a few tomatoes.

  16. I also kill all plants from indoor plants to bushes and outdoor gardens. When I get a plant I often feel like the poor thing is going to its execution. I try, they don't often make it. Loved it.

  17. I've given up on fancy flowers. I let the weeds have freedom, and they are just as pretty ;) Fun read *hugs*

  18. I have too much to take care of without adopting plants. If the fish or the tadpoles, the dog or one of the MEN in my house would consider taking on that task, gee, that would be nice!

  19. @ResidentGamer I can't help it either...it's a sad "gift"

@Kate Gardening with the kids is always fun! Besides, I think I feel more invested in the gardening because I can eat what I grow :)

    @Pam I feel the same way! :)

@Mojo Weeds are just as pretty too!! You are so right!!

  20. @Amy You really do have too much to do without worrying about plants! :) It was nice for me to see Bear approach his new hobby with such enthusiasm! I'm very much enjoying watching him become a young man with some varied interests...which wasn't something that I'd ever expected.

  24. I just popped back in to retweet this, and the comment I tried to leave before isn't here. It seemed wonky, and I guess it was.

Anyway, what I'd said was that I too am a plant killer. Years ago, when we lived on the lake, my hubby (who has a magically green thumb) had a big greenhouse. I'd take our houseplants to the brink of death, he'd trade them for some healthy ones from the greenhouse, and then nurse the ones I'd almost killed back to health just in time to trade them for the ones he'd given me healthy, but were now all but dead. We did this for a number of years until we moved back to the city.

It's very cool that your little guy has a gardener's soul. :O)

  25. We plant tomatoes every year and that works out, but Trish doesn't want to do flowers because: "You can't eat them." lol

  26. @Beth I think it's very cool that he has a 'gardener's soul' too. His flowers look beautiful and I'm really surprised at how much his little potato has sprouted.

@Eccentricity I pretty much feel the same way...if I can't eat it, there's no point in growing it :)
